A truly exceptional week on the river. I will start with the figures. 442 fish caught. 179 of these were Salmon, of which 31 were 15lbs or over with 4 fish above 20lbs, the largest at 22lbs. The best day was Thursday with 99 fish caught. 75% of fish I would have said were very fresh or sea-liced and were the fish we had seen building up in the estuary in June. Individually a number of rods had in excess of 40 fish for their week. And with 24 rods fishing that was an average of 18 fish per rod. Beat 9 on two consecutive day produced 30 and 31 fish.
Conditions have been perfect, we had heavy showers in the early part of the week which gave us three good rises in river height through the week and the river remained at between 22 and 14 inches. The good water meant that fish were caught all beats.
Propects for next week look very good with a full loch and good numbers of fresh fish entering the river. |
