It is with a very, very heavy heart that I report the death of Jake Waters. Jeck, as he was known locally, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly late on Thursday night. Down through the years Jeck struck up friendships with hundreds of visiting anglers which is why I use this forum to tell of his passing.
Jeck was a well liked and popular local businessman and was a Stalwart of Thurso Angling Association for over thirty years. One of the highlights of his year was the Spring Rotation that he took with several friends. Every Saturday, either on Loch Beg or beat thirteen, Jeck, Jamie Macgregor, Dougie Reid, Tom Stitt, Steelie Smith, Jamesie Bremner and Dougie Reid jnr, took turns to fish and, in between times, enjoyed some very good food, the odd dram and excellent company. Visiting anglers were also welcomed with great enthusiasm. Jeck will always be remembered for his kindness from which many people benefited down through the years.
There is one thing of which I am certain and that is this World will be a poorer place for the passing of Jeck Waters |
