It has been a very difficult week with the river bouncing between fourteen and thirty inches on the gauge at Halkirk. As I write on Saturday afternoon the Thurso Plage has befallen us------the dreaded easterly wind. Early in the week, first time visitor to the Thurso Mr P. Foster from Switzerland had success, taking a fish on beat eleven and another on beat three. The Rt. Honourable Malcolm Dutchman Smith ( normally referred to as the "Right Horrible" by his much younger and much better looking brother John ) had a beatiful ten pounder from the Lower Tormsdale on beat nine. Looking to the week ahead I am not as hopeful as usual-----unless the wind shifts direction. |
