I am afraid that very little has been happening along the riverbanks due to continued high water. During the week we had our contractor in looking about possible new access roads. We have identified a possible route on beat eleven where we would like to put a track which would take us from the Old Woman`s Pool down to the Fanks Pool. We also looked at the possibility of putting a track down to the Hut on beat Nine at the Mill stream. If we get the necessary permissions for this there will be new, more spaciou, Luncheon Huts erected on those sites. The continuation of the track on lower beat nine has also been agreed and this would take us to the Upper Tormsdale Pool.
As you might know the Ulbster Arms has also been taken over by the people who have the long lease on the river. I can tell you, from a fishing point of view, we have already agreed to major changes to upgrade the angling facilities at the Hotel. There will be a new, proper, drying room. there will be a new Freezer Room with a proper sink etc and the rod room is to be massively upgraded. I feel that Christmas has come early for me!! |
