It has been a very frightening week. The river went in to the biggest spate ever on Thursday which peaked at seven and a half feet and, although back on to the gauge, we still are unable to identify the damage done. The bridge on beat seven was completely under water, nearly all of the Luncheon Huts were engulfed, there is a quite big Island just above my house where , as as kids, my friends and I used to build our "Gang Hut" ---- it no longer exists.
It will be midweek of next week at the earliest before we can identify the damage done but I will update you immediately. |
